The DFWCoR Diversity Council
Despite the rise in popularity of the so-called “New Atheist” movement at the beginning of the 21st century, opinions from those in the minority atheist community have been conspicuously absent.
To meet the needs of the religiously unaffiliated in this growing minority and promote freethought and humanism across all backgrounds and cultures – the Dallas/Fort Worth Coalition of Reason has created a Diversity Council.
- Increase the level of diversity across all DFWCoR member organizations, promoting diversity through inclusion.
- Provide networking and group resources to minorities among the religiously unaffiliated, including access to demographic-specific resources (e.g. families, singles, students, racial/ethnic, LGBT, etc).
- Promote a positive naturalistic and secular lifestyle in communities less served and less visible by the “New Atheist” movement through increased secular outreach and educational opportunities in the natural sciences, humanities, and self-determination.
